    Spiritual growth of friends as they collaborate in strengthening the Church back home in the Philippines by forming more specialized Priests.

    MISSION

    Friends of the Collegio creates avenues for generous hearts to help offer quality holistic formation and specialized studies in Rome for Filipino Priests.

    HOW WILL MY HELP BENEFIT THE CHURCH IN THE PHILIPPINES?

    Priests in Rome live close to the Holy Father physically, spiritually and doctrinally. They undergo holistic formation, at the same time specializing in Theology, Philosophy, Canon Law, Sacred Scriptures, Liturgy, History, Communications, Patristics, and other fields, taking up either the Licentiate (a degree higher than the Master’s) or Doctoral degrees, for a period of generally two to four years. When they return to the Philippines, they handle the seminaries to train our future priests, and other specialized ministries of the diocese, such as the Tribunal, Biblical Apostolate, Media Office, Clergy continuing education, and so on.

    St. Pope John XXIII said when he blessed the Collegio in 1961:

    “These buildings destined for the formation of your students in sacred sciences will be like channels by which Catholic life will be promoted among you, and the bond by which the Philippines, a Nation very dear to us, will more intensely be linked with the supreme Magisterium of the Church.”

    A loving caring heart, and a praying helping hand — of friends assisting Filipino Priests sent by their Bishops for ongoing formation and further studies in Rome.

    COLOR

    Color Burgundy, a deep, dark red, can be found in the Collegio Filipino’s central spiral staircase connecting all the floors. Many of the building’s tiles, bricks and other surfaces approach this color as well.

    Burgundy symbolizes wealth, power and ambition, which in the case of Collegio Filippino are elevated to the spiritual realm: the spiritual treasures of God’s grace distributed by priests as they minister to His people, the power to serve and to be the last, and the holy ambition to bring Christ’s message of love, joy, forgiveness, justice and peace to the whole world.

    Burgundy is reminiscent of wine produced in France’s Burgundy region. Its hex code is #800020.
